My Winter Lockdown Goals

So here we are, 7 months on and in a second national lockdown.

I can't say I'm thrilled but I'm staying optimistic and focusing on being grateful for my health and having extra time to really focus on bettering myself and achieving certain goals that "I've not had enough time to do."

During the first lockdown I decided to take everyday as it came as the concept of a lockdown was so alien and we were entering the unknown, so I didn't put too much pressure on myself to pick up a new hobby, bake banana bread everyday or attempt the 2 week Chloe Ting Summer shred. This time however, as I have more of an awareness of how this lockdown is going to be and how it may affect my mood and my mental health, I'm setting myself some small goals to help stay optimistic, motivated and somewhat productive.

I just want to say before I get into this, that you should not feel pressured to set yourself goals or be productive whatsoever in this lockdown. If you feel like taking it day by day or just taking this time to fully chill out, then do that! Everyone will deal with this pandemic differently, so make sure to do whatever it is you've got to do to make this as easy as possible and to make yourself happy!

Here is what I'm going to be doing to help me stay sane during the next month...

01. Get Ahead With Work. Along with my full time job I am also a freelance social media manager, fun fact. My freelance work really picked up in the past few months which I am so thankful for, but it does mean that my work days really don't end until about 9pm at night most nights. The beauty of social media is that you can plan content in advance, something which I need to work on doing and not leaving until a few days before. So I need a day where I sit down and dedicate my time to getting ahead with my work. I'm sure my future self will be extremely grateful for it.

02. Create A Routine. Before lockdown I had a pretty solid routine which I followed most days. Wake up at 6.30, have breakfast, get ready and go to work. Since lockdown has happened though, my routine is all over the place. Some days I wake up at 6, some days I wake up at 8. Some days I have breakfast, some days I wont eat until 1pm. It's a mess.

Now I have more time in the mornings as I don't have to commute to work, I want to really take the time to sit down and plan out somewhat of a 'miracle morning routine' which will help set me up for the day and start my mornings off on a good note.

3. Focus On My Passions. I'm probably one of the most inconsistent people ever when it comes to my blog and this is something which is always in the back of my mind. I started my blog just before I moved to university and then once I moved, I was focused on getting used to a new city, new friends and new experiences that I put my blogging on the back burner. Fast forward 4 years, I graduated (woo) and entered a full time job which took up the majority of my time Monday to Friday while I was spending my weekends with my friends or travelling up and down the country to see my boyfriend at the time, lol.

As I'm writing this out I'm realising that these are pure excuses as to why I haven't prioritised my blog. However blogging has always been in the back of my mind of something I want to take seriously and consistently as it really does act as an escape for me. So as I now have more time on my hands, I'm going to get serious about focusing on my passion - expect a lot of festive content coming your way!

04. Reach My Fitness Goals. Okay, you knew this one was coming! At the start of this year I was the heaviest I've ever been and while I'm all for eating what you want and enjoying yourself, I was starting to feel insecure and self-conscious. While I have lost quite a bit of weight since then, I want to continue working out for the positive impact it makes to my mental health too rather than my physical appearance. I mean, having a nice body is all well and good, but Christmas is on its way so I'm going to be eating my bodyweight in pigs in blankets anyway...

05. Be Kind To Myself. Despite setting myself goals, I'm not going to be hard on myself if I don't achieve them. This year is such a crazy one and I think it still will be for a good few months from now, so I'm going to allow myself to feel any emotion I'm feeling and just ride the wave!

How are you going to be spending this lockdown?

  2. Love your goals! I think they're such good things to focus on over the next few weeks. I'm finding this lockdown really tough and I'm already bored whereas last lockdown I was barely bored. Haha it's so weird xx
