Ways To Reset & Refresh This Autumn

Feeling overwhelmed is understandable right now. With last weeks announcement of even more lockdown restrictions here in the UK, it's only normal to go through feelings of doubt and worry. You're definitely not alone.

One of the best ways of getting yourself back into a more positive and optimistic headspace is taking some time out to reset and refresh certain parts of your life. Not sure where to start? Keep reading!

1. Figure Out How To Address Any Sources Of Stress.

Acknowledging that you're stressed is all well and good, but have you taken the time to clearly identify what the sources of that stress are and how you're going to sustainably tackle it? For example, if you're stressed about how you need to clean your entire house, then you may push it to the back of your mind and put off doing it for ages. When you finally get around to it, chances are you'll need to do it all over again in a few days/weeks because the house will get back to how it was in the first place (sound familiar?). To effectively stop this vicious cycle which is causing your stress, try to identify how you can change something in your routine which will help prevent it getting to that point. This goes for everything, not just cleaning the house!

Stress usually comes from many different areas of your life. So make sure to prioritise the ones that are causing you the most stress instead of trying to tackle them all at once.

2. Refresh Your Space

It looks like we will definitely be spending a lot of time at home again for the next few months, so why not redesign your living space! There's still a few more months to go yet before we can start thinking about putting up our Christmas trees, so until then, why not make your home cosier by treating yourself to some new scented candles, pillows or some new photos/canvas prints around your house.

3. Take Some Time For Yourself.

Probably one of my favourites - Dedicate some time for some rest and relaxation! Dig out your face masks, bubble bath and deep conditioners and set aside a few hours or even a full day to show yourself some TLC. Light those new candles you bought to decorate your space and just take some time for yourself. We're always so busy doing things and giving our time to others that sometimes we can forget about the main character - ourselves! 4. Get Things Off Your Chest

There's a reason why people go on and on about the power of journaling and it's because it really does work! Journaling is basically a free form of therapy which allows you to get all the thoughts and feelings that are clouding your mind down onto a piece of paper without judgement and allows you to start logically making sense of it all. This might help you identify areas of your life which are subconsciously making you feel anxious or stressed, so again you'll be in a better place to address them and go into autumn with a fresh perspective and a clearer mind.
