My Updated Evening Skincare Routine

Name a better feeling than settling down for the day and taking all of your makeup off.... I'll wait.

That's funny to me because I never used to be someone who was big into skincare as I found less was more for my sensitive skin, and while that is still true to some extent, I have began to find some products which get me excited to do a full on skincare routine every now and again if my skin's starting to break out or look a little dull.

So while this routine isn't what I apply every night to my face, I thought I'd share some of my evening skincare favourites for when I'm wanting to go all out.

Getting rid of the day with Simple cleansing facial wipes.

These are the only face wipes which I swear by and will ever use. They're so soft and gentle on the skin and do a pretty good job at taking even a full face of glam off. While they are on the pricier side for makeup wipes, I've tried cheaper brands that literally feel like I'm applying sandpaper to my face, so I justify the price of the Simple ones as they're hydrating and also don't contain any perfumes, colours or harsh chemicals.

Cleanse with The Organic Pharmacy carrot butter cleanser.

The worst thing you can do with skincare is thinking that your face wipes remove all the makeup and dirt from your face. They don't. After I go in with my Simple face wipe, I use a tiny bit of cleanser which melts into my skin and gets rid of anything the wipe didn't before I wash it off with cool water. This product also smells amazing and is the perfect relaxing scent to get into evening mode.

As this is a bit on the pricier side costing £43, baby oil can also work as an amazing alternative for removing any left over makeup. If you have oily skin already however, I wouldn't recommend doing this, but there are so many amazing cleansers on the market for all skin types.

Add hydration back into my face with The Ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% and B5.

Personally, I don't like using moisturisers as I find they're quite thick and can clog my pores really easily. So instead, I swear by hyaluroic acid from The Ordinary.

This product is by far the best solution I own from the brand (apart from their vitamin C solution). It's great for hydrating and healing any damaged parts of the skin and it comes as a lightweight liquid which goes a long way and absorbs quickly into the skin. I simply apply 5 little drops to my face; one on my forehead, both cheeks, nose and chin, and gently rub it in until absorbed. The product feels sticky at first, but then dries and absorbs in a matter of minutes.

Calm my skin with tea tree oil.

Tea tree is oil my holy grail, most favourite skincare savour when it comes to any blemishes I get on my face. Forget all these blemish rescue masks, creams and moisturisers - If you really want a spot to be almost gone overnight, tea tree oil is your answer!

I only do this step if I have any blemishes coming out to play on my face. I use 100% natural tea tree oil and simply apply a tiny amount on to the spot. It's important to only use a little bit as it's very powerful and using too much can dry out your skin causing irritation.

So they're all the products that I'm reaching for recently when I'm wanting to give my skin some extra TLC in the evenings. I love to switch up my products regularly because I feel that if you use the same products all the time, your skin will start to get used to it and the products will be less effective. So, make sure to tell me what some of your favourite skincare favourites are in the comments!

  2. Sound's like such a good routine! I am all for simplicity when it comes to skincare. One of my huge skincare staples is the Dermalogica Barrier Defence Booster. It is so good for dry skin. I couldn't be without it xx
