New Beauty Buy : YSL Luxurious Eye Make Up Set

Spending money on designer makeup is not something I tend to do simply due to the fact that I go through makeup like there's no tomorrow. But when I saw this Yves Saint Laurent eye kit, I thought I'd give it a try to find out whether it's worth splashing out on higher-end makeup or if I should stick to my trusty drugstore.

Mascara     7/10
The wand of this mascara is a straight, one length brush, meaning there is equal application on each of the lashes. A light application achieves the illusion of longer, natural lashes for a daytime look, and can be layered to achieve a very intense night look too without clumping. When opting for a natural application, I found that I didn't have to apply as much as I have to do with drugstore mascaras so a little can go a long way!

Liner     9/10
I'm in a love, hate relationship with liquid liners. I either find that they don't last as long as I'd like them to once applied, or they end up drying out/running out extremely quickly. This liner though? A game changer. The liner is made up of a creamy yet pigmented consistency which can easily be applied and can also be easily be blended (amazing if you like to create smokey effects.) The product is also waterproof too which increases it's longevity. This stuff literally doesn't budge!

Eye & Lip Makeup Remover     3/10
As you can tell by the photo, the makeup remover in this set is pretty small so it doesn't last long at all. The good thing about this makeup remover is that can be used for both eyes and lips, however you can smell that it contains harsh chemicals - something that I try to avoid at all costs as I'm all for my skincare being as natural as possible. To remove my makeup I prefer to use either a tiny bit of baby oil or micellar water, they both do the job and are kinder to your skin.

Overall, I think this set is a great if you are looking to try out a few of YSLs products without purchasing them separately, as overall this kit costs £28 - the same price as the mascara alone!
